The Vacancy

Wates Group are looking for an experienced HR Advisor to join our HR team supporting our Central Services Functions (IT, Finance, etc) and Developments out of our Leatherhead office in Surrey. Reporting to the HR Business Partner, this role provides critical ER support to the business, allowing us to manage and support our people effectively.

As a HR Advisor, you will:

  • Effectively support and manage ER cases to a successful outcome, such as sickness, disciplinary, grievance, capability, and appeal hearings.
  • Ensure high quality, accurate and timely administration of all ER activity including letters of invite to meetings, outcome letters and hearing packs, also acting as a meeting note taker.
  • Undertake relevant HR project work for TUPE transfers, redundancies, restructures, which includes the preparation of ELI data, conducting consultations and consulting with third parties.
  • Comply and respond to Subject Access Requests, collating and redacting data and consulting with external solicitors when necessary.
  • Proactively identify and manage risk, identifying opportunities to upskill line managers where appropriate and develop and run suitable workshops or produce support materials.
  • Always maintain confidentiality.
  • Ensure the HR casework database is up to date and accurate at all times, collating a monthly activity report for the HR Business Partner.
  • Be a key contributor to the HR Advisor network across the Group, sharing learnings and best practice.
  • Provide coaching / training on policy and practice to support upskilling within the business.
  • Produce and analyse relevant ER reports, identifying trends to inform actions in people plan.
  • Maintain professional knowledge of prevailing legislation / group policy and practice, supporting implementation of changes and best practice.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is fast paced, challenging, yet rewarding role, with a primary focus to provide comprehensive and professional HR advice, guidance and support to managers and employees on a full range of HR transactional activities.

We are looking for you to already be working in a similar role and environment with experience in providing both remote and face to face advice, guidance and direction to employees and managers.

To be successful in the role you will be an effective communicator, able to build relationships across the business to promote and encourage the integration of HR policies, procedures, and best practice. You will also have the confidence and proven experience in taking the lead on projects such as TUPE and other employee relations matters, and ideally by CIPD Level 5 qualified or currently completing this.

This role will be carried out through a combination of working out of our Leatherhead office and remote working.
