Wates are looking for a SHE Advisor to join our Construction West team in Manchester, supporting the Construction West region and on occasion may be required to support out of region in the West Midlands Area.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our SHE Advisors are a valuable part of our business, the focus of this role is to provide professional SHE support, advice and coaching at regional business level; engaging with Project Teams, Ops Directors and supply chain peers to ensure that the business SHE policy is promoted and effectively deployed.

As our SHE Advisor you will:

  • Be conversant with current and impending health, safety, and environmental (SHE) legislation, and assist in maintaining the company’s SHE Management System and associated documentation.
  • Support Directors, Managers, Department Heads, and Supervisors in implementing the company SHE Policy.
  • Visit and inspect sites and projects to monitor safety and environmental performance, produce SHE Support Reports, investigate hazardous practices, and provide guidance, including the authority to cease work until remedial actions are taken.
  • Provide support and coaching to project teams and supply chain members, reinforcing the company’s SHE Management systems and associated documentation.
  • Review absences due to accidents or injuries at work, ensure reportable occurrences are notified to the relevant enforcing authority, and investigate accidents and incidents, gathering factual information, conducting interviews, and formatting reports within the given timeframe.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

You should have previous experience in Building Services or Construction on a range of large-scale projects and hold a NEBOSH General or Construction certificate to demonstrate a basic level of the required safety knowledge. You should also have knowledge of PASMA, IPAF, asbestos, and other general construction equipment, systems, activities, and associated legislation. Excellent communication and coaching skills, along with highly developed influencing abilities, are essential.
