The Vacancy

Wates have an opportunity for an Assistant Surveyor to join our Wates Residential team in Cardiff.

Wates Residential is a developer contractor; we invest, develop, build and sell quality affordable housing, either contracting or in a form of partnership with Local Authorities, Registered Providers and public bodies.

Our Assistant Surveyors are a valuable part of our business, where they support the team on a project or cluster of packages for the development and implementation of all pre and post contract strategies, commercial functions and contract reporting. Assistant Surveyors; working collaboratively with our customers and industry specialists with a firm focus on added value, compliance, commercial viability, and best practice.

As an Assistant Surveyor, you will:


  • Produce commercial reports both internally and external to the company.
  • Ensure the timely receipt of quotations for materials, equipment and Sub-subcontract works, undertake commercial assessment of quotes received and ensure the timely placement of orders on commercially advantageous terms to facilitate project delivery and ensure business objectives are met.
  • Regularly complete on-site measurements/ take off’s.
  • Ensure all contractual processes are completed on time.

The team are looking a confident communicator who already has some experience gained in a similar role which includes the areas highlighted above, as well as being part or fully HNC/HND or Degree qualified.
