The Vacancy

Here at Wates, we have an opportunity for an experienced Site Surveyor to join our Living Space division in the Wolverhampton area on a very exciting project overseeing planned refurbishment to medium rise blocks flats comprising, Roofing & RWG’s, Replacement UPVC windows, External Wall Insulation, Door Entry Systems, External Drainage, Hard Landscaping etc

You will join a team of experienced surveyors working on some fantastic projects whilst working alongside our existing social housing partners.

The ideal candidate should have at least 2 years of experience working with a Commercial Team in a similar field ideally social housing and be degree qualified. You will need to have a good work ethic and should be able to work under a Project Surveyor and within a team of Surveyors of different levels of knowledge. Client interaction is a major part of the Contract so you should be able to liaise with Clients and have the personal skills that would endear the Client team.

The key objectives of this role:

Measurement – Due to the nature of the Contract there will be a requirement for measurement of the Properties that have been provided by the Client. This will include site visit and measure of the main external components for example roof, brick repointing, external decorations etc.

Pricing of Scoping Documents – Post measurement the pricing of Scoping Documents with an agreed Schedule of Rates. This will entail the candidate agreeing the Priced Schedules with the Client so they must have worked with Schedule of Rates in the past and have a good understanding of the work that goes into this sort of task.

Procurement – Working within the Commercial Team to Procure the Works packages upon the success of the above points. This is to include producing a procurement programme and to liaise with the operation team to procure all the work’s packages in a timely manner.

Subcontract Management – Management of the subcontractors selected from procurement and full liaison throughout the programme of works. The candidate will need to process order documents so Wates can enter a subcontract agreement, carry out interim subcontract payments as the project progresses, and agree final accounts at the end of the Project with Subcontractor. Previous experience with high value subcontractors and complex Contract Documents is needed for this task.
