Project Surveyor

Here at Wates we have an opportunity for a Project Surveyor to join our property services team within our Planned Maintenance division. You will be working out of our London offices on one of our existing social housing contracts. You will be expected to take accountability for the development and implementation of all pre and post contract strategies, commercial functions and contract reporting. Key Accountabilities will include: Develop and encourage project team performance encouraging and ensuring that Wates’ main contractual obligations and or strategies are executed and regularly reviewed Complete and submit monthly Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) and progress reports Demonstrate understanding of internal and external tender strategies / build up Agree external valuations / cash flow to maximise project value Work with the Commercial Manager to agree and produce main and subcontract final accounts Ensure all Wates subcontract management / process obligations are complete with particular reference to Procurement, Measurement and valuation, Contractual instructions / notices / orders as well as Health and SafetyTo be successful in the role you will already have relevant commercial skills and experience including the ability to maximise value recovery, cost control and cash management as well as effectively use / understand financial reports and final accounts. We are ideally looking for someone with social housing/property services background from a tier 1 contractor. Alongside this you will be a confident communicator, able to demonstrate the ability to form and develop relationships with the client, Project Surveyors, design team and supply chain. Regional Commercial Director

We have a new opportunity for a Regional Commercial Director to join our Wates team within our Property Services business unit. You will be working out of one of our Birmingham offices reporting into the Commercial Director, you will provide strategic support as well as lead the commercial team on all matters relating to procurement, strategy, risk management, pre and post contract as well as margin improvement and people development.You will join an experienced team to cover all regional commercial activities across Central and North England.Key Accountabilities will include: Full responsibility for profitability of projects across the region Take responsibility for developing, leading and implementing the project commercial strategy Take responsibility for staff allocation and resource planning Ensure compliance with Wates governance Ensure all H&S strategies are effectively communicated to the Commercial Team To provide independent and effective challenge to the business, to focus on early warning and intervention, and to ensure that the Wates Group commercial objectives, Professional Standards and governance are always implementedTo be successful in the role you will be an effective communicator with excellent leadership skills to influence at all levels and to deliver profitable results whilst also inspiring and developing the team to engage and deliver. Site Manager

Wates have an opportunity for a Site Manager to join our Wates team within our Planned Works division. You will be working in and around the Brent area on one of our contracts. The primary focus of this role will be to ensure a project is built safely, economically to the agreed timescales and quality standards. You will be working on social housing projects (Roofing, Cavity Wall Insulation, External Decorations, etc).Key Accountabilities will include: Responsible for input into and Programming the works/short-term programming of works. Manage Operatives, Sub-Contractors and Suppliers to ensure quality control is maintained along with Health and safety at all times. Attend pre and post-inspection works and advise on appropriate action and job requirements, and assist with design solutions. This resulting in the successful delivery and handover of schemes. Carry out Weekly Site Progress reports per scheme that will be file electronically as well as submitting to Project Manager. Ensure that once works are completed, the full and completed job packs are sent to the Project Manager at the office along with completion details to guarantee a swift invoicing procedure to eliminate WIP (work In Progress) & certify cash flow. You must have: Must have full accreditation in asbestos awareness, scaffold inspections. SMSTS required. Full UK Driving License Must hold a valid first aid certificate.We are looking for an experienced Site Manager with a successful track record of completing internal and external planned maintenance works with exceptional knowledge of M&E. To be successful in the role you will be an effective communicator with a positive and engaging approach to providing site leadership. You will have strong IT skills (including: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) with the ability to prioritise a wide range of tasks to set deadlines. Manage Operatives, Sub-Contractors and Suppliers to ensure quality control is maintained along with Health and safety at all times.
