Community involvement
We are committed to delivering lasting social value for local residents as a result of our presence within the community. This has included family fun days, site visits for local colleges and community organisations, environmental commitments including banning single-use plastic cups across the site, organising community litter picking sessions and much more.
Through Wates Giving, in independent charitable arm of the Wates Family Enterprise Trust, we also secured a grant £13,500 for local projects, including £10,000 to the South Hampstead and Kilburn Community Partnership to support the local youth club. The club organises sporting, educational and creative activities to help young people build confidence and achieve their potential, as well as providing practical advice on CVs, apprenticeships and further education.
Two further phases of the Abbey development remain. Phase two will see the construction of a new health and community centre, improved public realm and transport infrastructure. This will enable phase three, which will demolish current housing blocks that are in a poor condition and replace them with new homes, including 36 council homes.
