As Business Growth Director, Helen is responsible for determining the route we can take our ambitious growth plans forward.

This incorporates working with public sector bodies to be their partner of choice, to deliver more affordable homes and social value for communities by way of upholding the highest of placemaking principles, focusing on stakeholder inclusion and creating quality environments for people to live in and thrive.

As we focus on working in partnership with local authorities and registered providers as a joint-venture development partner, Helen’s remit is to cement a pipeline that enables the business to invest, design, build and sell new homes, whilst also maximising the provision of affordable homes in the schemes we deliver. As part of this process, she ensures that sustainability is considered in design at the outset to best address our environmental needs and to make better places for tomorrow.

With a background in residential regeneration and working in affordable housing, prior to joining the Wates Residential Board, Helen set up Partnerships within the Developments Group. As the founding Wates Partnerships Director, she was instrumental in the formation of the strategy of the business and building the team, whist setting up new national joint venture deals.

Recognising its significant beneficial effects to confidence and self-worth, Helen is passionate about giving young people in business the opportunity to develop their skills and experience through training and apprenticeships to foster early careers.
