The award comes as the Wates Group delivers an increasing number of projects using digital technologies, including Building Information Modelling (BIM) across the public and private sectors.
With established processes and procedures having been in place across the group for over five years, the certification is a significant benchmark of Wates growing capability to deliver BIM projects.
In-line with the Governments 2025 Construction Strategy and the intention to build on the mandate for all central government departments to be delivered in BIM, the award continues to position the Wates Group as a partner of choice for the public and private sectors.
With demand being driven across all sectors, the value of BIM is clear and its capability to deliver improvements on programme, cost, sustainability and safety create a further drive to modernise the construction industry which will, in turn, boost growth, reduce waste and increase collaboration.
Lucy Abbott, BIM Director, Wates Group, commented:
“Were delighted to have our BIM capability formally recognised by the BSI, having been completing digital construction projects for over five years. This certification gives assurance to our customers that we utilise BIM to manage information to the highest standard from project inception through to completion. It also demonstrates that Wates has the capability to add further value to design, quality and efficiency as part of our business as usual approach.
BIM provides a huge opportunity for the industry and our business to grow and prosper, and we need to work together to ensure that we make the very best success of what BIM has to offer.”
Andrew Davies, Wates Group, Chief Executive added:
“This certification is absolute testament to the quality of our people and their capability to deliver digital construction. We recognise that BIM and developing digital technologies are the future of our business, and as such this certification aligns with our group strategy.
Im extremely proud the Group has been recognised through this BSI certification, and we look forward to utilising our growing expertise across both the public and private sectors.”
To achieve the verification, the Wates Group demonstrated compliance with BIM Level 2 in accordance with BIM industry standards: PAS 1192-2:2013, BS 1192-4:2014 and BS1192:2007+A2:2016; whilst evidencing that standardised processes and procedures for BIM implementation had been developed and implemented across the business.
