HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, a tribute
We are deeply saddened by the announcement of the death of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
He dedicated his life to the service of this country and to supporting his wife, the Queen. He brought energy and innovation to the monarchy and was a modernising figure who helped ensure the institution adapted and remains relevant today.
A progressive thinker, the Prince used his position of great influence to improving the lives and future of others. He promoted environmental sustainability decades before it became common to do so and – through the ground-breaking Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme – has improved life opportunities for thousands of young people over several decades. The causes he championed and the values he lived in his years of service demonstrated he was a true force for good in society.
On behalf of the Wates Group and the Wates Family, I would like to pay our respects to his memory and for a great life lived and lost. He will be sadly missed.
