We’ve formally signed a pledge supporting the Town and Country Planning Association’s (TCPA) Healthy Homes Principles.
In doing so, we have become the first major developer partner in the UK to sign the pledge, formally backing the TCPA’s campaign to ensure the provision of high-quality homes and places that will protect and promote all residents’ physical, mental and social wellbeing, as well as support planetary health.
The Healthy Homes Principles encompass various aspects crucial for fostering safe, sustainable, and health-promoting living environments. These principles address fire safety, liveable space, inclusivity and accessibility, access to natural light, reduction of carbon emissions, access to amenities and transport, crime prevention, climate resilience, air pollution prevention, limitation of light and noise pollution and ensuring thermal comfort.
The TCPA will launch the Healthy Homes pledge at the Housing Brighton event organised by the Chartered Institute of Housebuilders in Brighton on 8 May 2024 and will encourage other development partners to follow the lead of Wates Group.
“The Healthy Homes Principles align really well with Wates’ own values and so I am incredibly proud that we have become the first major development partner to make this pledge. Homes must be places where people can thrive, and we have long been committed to ensuring the wellbeing of the communities and residents we work with. Signing the Healthy Homes pledge underscores that commitment and I hope that other companies across the industry will follow our lead to ensure that all homes are healthy homes”
