We’ve reached a significant milestone at Church End, where we’re delivering 99 council-owned affordable homes alongside a brand-new market square that will breathe life into the area.
To mark the occasion, we celebrated with our partners, including client, Brent Council and our fantastic supply chain, with a topping-out ceremony—a moment to recognise the hard work that has gone into this transformative project.
At Wates, we build more than homes – we create places where people can put down roots and communities can grow. The new market square will bring fresh energy to Church End, supporting local businesses and creating a vibrant hub where people can connect.
This project is a key part of Brent Council’s regeneration vision, which will see over 1,300 new homes delivered in Church End by 2041, alongside improved infrastructure, job opportunities, and community spaces.
Reimagining a lasting legacy for the local community
A huge part of our approach is ensuring we leave a lasting impact. Through our local labour scheme, we’re creating jobs for local people. We’ve exceeded our social enterprise spending target, with £18,469 spent this year and over £100,000 since the project began. We’ve delivered health and safety sessions in local schools, helped young people and parents access Street Dr’s first aid training, and provided accredited courses to support skills and education.
On top of that, we’ve been recognised for our commitment to responsible construction, scoring a perfect 45/45 in the Considerate Constructors Scheme.
With the structure now topped out, we’re on track to complete early 2025. Soon, these homes will welcome families, and the market square will become a thriving space for local businesses and residents alike. This is what reimagining places for people to thrive looks like—and we’re proud to be leading the way.
