Social Housing Fund Wave 3 is open now

Home News Social Housing Fund Wave 3 is open now

Applications for the Government’s Social Housing Fund, previously known as the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund, is now open.

From today, local authorities and housing associations can apply for funding to carry out retrofit projects that will improve the energy efficiency of their homes.

At Wates, we work closely with social housing landlords supporting them, free of charge, to secure this funding.

To date, we have secured more than £110m from the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund for our customers – helping them on their way to creating low-carbon, energy-efficient homes, fit for the future and resilient in the face of a changing climate.

We are one of the country’s leading retrofit contractors.  This gives us a broad base of experience delivering these projects up and down the country, offering tailored solutions to meet the unique needs of every home.

Wates has specialist teams that improve properties in states of disrepair and supports landlords with a range of issues. We have decades of experience in providing maintenance services across social housing and currently maintain over 500,000 homes nationwide each year.

Building on this expertise, we launched our retrofit offer in 2020, founded on our belief that every home should be a healthy home.

To date, over 8,000 homes have benefitted from our end-to-end, whole house retrofit service – helping our partners to navigate complex funding applications and improve the performance of their housing stock.

This is all part of our commitment at Wates to reimagine places for people to thrive, and ensuring all our work creates thriving places, planet and people.

Decarbonisation is a vital part of this. Reducing carbon emissions of existing homes is essential if the UK is going to meet its climate targets, with 20% of current UK greenhouse gas emissions coming from home energy use. Ensuring homes are high-quality, warm and healthy provides long-term mental and physical wellbeing benefits for occupants, as well as wider benefits for the local community. And reducing energy costs for residents helps minimise the risk of fuel poverty and associated poor health outcomes.
