Wates helps Clarion Housing Group residents get online
Wates has provided 21 high-spec laptops for residents of Clarion Housing Group in London to help improve their access to online resources and training opportunities. The laptops, which were purchased from the London-based social enterprise Relove Technology, have been donated by Wates to Clarion Futures, the charitable foundation of Clarion Housing Group.
The laptops will be used by Clarion Futures for their ‘Digital Device Loan Scheme’ which provides easy access to laptops, tablets and connectivity for people who need to get online but don’t have their own device. Applicants typically include residents undergoing training with Clarion Futures, community groups supporting residents to get online, volunteer digital champions and local schools.
At Wates, we want to contribute to the communities where we work in a meaningful way and by working with our Clarion colleagues and our supply chain we’ll be able help more people get online, which is particularly important during the pandemic.
So much more is happening online now, such as training, job interviews and even school lessons. We know that these laptops will be put to good use.”

Divisional Manager, Wates Living Space
Access to a good quality, reliable laptop is an essential part of getting our residents online, enabling them to benefit from all that the internet has to offer, from applying for jobs and saving money on utility bills to doing the weekly shop.
Wates’ donation will help us to reach even more excluded households in the year ahead, and we’re grateful for their support.”
