Wates ends 2018 with record community grant funding
Leading affordable housing maintenance provider, Wates brought the 2018 financial year to a close having supported the award of an unprecedented £95,000 of community grant funding gifted to community and charitable causes across the UK.
The donation milestone forms part of a combined £1.2m gifted by the Wates Family Enterprise Trust, which is independent of the Wates Group, through its Wates Giving charitable programme throughout 2018.
Throughout the year, Wates Living Space has supported Wates Giving applications for eight major community initiatives, including £21,000 donated to the One Manchester Aquarius Centre, a vital community centre for residents in Hulme.
The Wates Living Space team also helped secure £15,000 of Wates Giving funding for the Peabody Community Foundation, which provides community services for one of the longest-established housing associations in London.
Established in 2008 to empower initiatives that make a real difference to society, Wates Giving has so far supported 2,100 organisations with over £12.4m of investment in charitable activities.
David Morgan, Managing Director of Wates Living Space, commented:
Through its Wates Giving grant funding programme, the Wates Family Enterprise Trust has helped some amazing causes over the course of the past ten years, underpinning the Wates family ethos of making a meaningful difference to the communities in which we work.
By supporting applications to Wates Giving, our teams show a great deal of passion, determination and kindness and this is something that must never be underestimated. Our teams are on the constant look-out for worthy causes that are in need of support and this altruism, along with the years achievements, is something of which I am extremely proud.
