Wates expands North Wales presence with position on Construction Framework
Wates has secured a position on the North Wales Construction Partnerships major £500m framework, adding to the contractors presence across the region, including Flintshire Councils Strategic Housing and Regeneration Partnership.
Led by Denbighshire County Council on behalf of the six North Wales councils, the North Wales Construction Partnerships framework is now in its second iteration and will facilitate the construction of new schools and public sector projects across the region.
With an anticipated value of £500m, the framework is designed to foster collaborative working and allows clients, contractors, design teams and the supply chain to work together to improve efficiency and quality.
The framework also aims to place community benefits at its core and will support and develop sustainable local supply chains as well as create apprenticeships and training for communities across North Wales.
In its first phase, the North Wales Construction Framework saw the delivery of projects with a value in excess of £270m, with 80% of the supply chain spend coming from within a 30 mile radius of projects.
Wates appointment to the framework sees the contractor grow its presence across North Wales, building on its current housing portfolio with Flintshire Council. Launched in 2015, the councils Strategic Housing and Regeneration Partnership (SHARP) will see the creation of 500 new homes across the county.

The framework places importance on delivering the greatest benefit from the investment made ensuring there is a positive impact on local communities. This framework ensures that local businesses, where possible, benefit from the investment being made in North Wales.
Alongside the regional Framework, the principles adopted will be applied to projects across the region to ensure consistency, drive delivery of the community benefits, develop continuous improvement and set new benchmarks for best practice.
A number of projects from the first phase of the framework have won various awards, most recently six projects were honoured at the National CEW Awards 2018.
A number of projects have also been nominated for the Construction Awards 2019.
