Wates Construction has been appointed to the University of Oxfords Construction Framework, which has a potential pipeline of work worth £120m – £150m every year.
Wates has been awarded a place on the Universitys Constructors Framework for projects above £20m in value. Of the eight bidders shortlisted for three available places, Wates was ranked in top place.
The framework is designed to deliver a variety of capital projects for the next five years, after which there will be an option to extend this agreement by a further five years.
The nature of projects to be undertaken by Wates will range from office refurbishments to building complex and technically advanced facilities. The annual capital project spend is predicted to be circa £120m-£150m.
The appointment sees Wates add to its portfolio of framework places which includes the recent retention of its position on the fourth generation Southern Construction Framework (SCF) which promises a £5.25bn pipeline of work in the South. Wates is also the framework delivery partner for Major Works – UK, part of Scapes National Construction framework, for public sector projects worth £10m – £50m.
Wates is a leading provider of construction services for the education sector, from schools and colleges to university campuses, creating exemplar and technically-complex teaching, research and cutting-edge environments that enable UK-based institutions to attract and retain students from around the world.
Ian Vickers, Managing Director of Wates Construction Home Counties, commented:
The University of Oxford is an internationally-esteemed institution which expects the very best from its construction providers and we are confident we have the expertise, experience and knowledge to provide this on every project.
Securing a ranking of first place out of the three successful bidders also demonstrates just how much emphasis Wates places on delivering quality, competitive projects every time. Were very proud that this approach continues to be recognised.
