Wates eyes London growth with new appointment
Leading contractor, Wates Construction, has appointed Steve Yates as Business Development Manager as it prepares to significantly expand its presence in the London marketplace.
Steve joins Wates from McLaren Construction where he spent six years, most recently leading the companys business development function across the southern region.
Steve will now drive growth in Wates Constructions pipeline of projects in London, initially focusing on the companys key sectors of commercial office and mixed-use and residential developments.
This will see Wates add to its already impressive project portfolio in the city and beyond, which includes projects at the Borough Yards redevelopment led by Meyer Bergman, the Farmiloe commercial refurbishment for Aberdeen Standard Investments and The Royal College of Surgeons in Holborn.
Phil Shortman, Managing Director of Wates Construction London, commented:
Steve has a highly regarded reputation for business development owing to his impressive industry connections. He is an excellent addition to our strong regional team and is perfectly placed to help drive our growth across key sectors and develop customer relationships.
Our presence in London has been built on exceptional standards in project delivery and our financial stability in the industry. We are now extremely well positioned to take advantage of market opportunities, strengthen connections with our customers and expand our portfolio of high quality projects delivered on time, on budget and safely.
Steve added:
I join Wates at a very exciting time in the companys history as we seek to broaden our reach across our core markets. Wates has long been considered a leading contractor across both public and private sectors so I am proud and privileged to become part of the very talented team here in London.
