The award comes less than a month after Wates Construction handed over the keys to developer, MEPC, who let the space within four weeks of practical completion.
Designed by CJCT Studios and facilitated by construction consultants, AECOM, the six-storey development hosts 105,853 sq ft of office provision and is set to accommodate a growing appetite for commercial space in Leeds.
The award honours an outstanding commercial property development that features innovative designs, hosts sustainable development principles and acts as a catalyst for further economic activity.
Paul Pavia, Head of Development at MEPC, commented:
“The success of the scheme at Wellington Place is, in part, owed to our highly capable project team. Their technical expertise and construction know-how helped realise our ambitious plan to deliver a building that raises the bar for commercial developments in the area.”
Wates’ work to deliver prime commercial space at Wellington Place also currently includes Building Five, which will comprise 75,000 sq ft of Grade A office provision. Completion is scheduled for later this year.
Paul Dodsworth, Business Unit Director for Wates Construction Yorkshire and North East, commented:
“6 Wellington Place is central to MEPC’s masterplan to upgrade and expand Leeds’ commercial landscape. It fills us with pride to be have facilitated this vision and to be commended for what has been a truly successful build.”
