International Women’s Day 2023
Women into Construction (WiC)
A year ago, as part of our 125th Anniversary commemorations, and to mark International Women’s Day, we launched a special programme to bring more women into construction and roles within the built environment. This was part of our commitment to do more to improve the gender balance within our sector.
Working with Women into Construction (WiC), the programme was established to provide training and employment opportunities for 125 women at all stages of their career.
We welcomed our first cohort of 60 women in July 2022, and you can see the impact of the programme on some of our participants in this video.
This year, as we mark International Women’s Day 2023, we are opening up applications to join the second cohort of the programme
Did you know?
- Women account for less than 15% of the total UK construction workforce
- Only 1% of trade roles in construction are occupied by women
