Our innovative LimpetReaderTM, effectively turns existing utility meters into smart meters, allowing utility usage to be measured and ultimately controlled automatically.
The ability of the LimpetReaderTM to capture an image of the meter register, automatically and remotely, is unique within the industry. As it is an image, it is free from inaccuracy and 100% accurate. The installation process is simple: it is non-invasive, it does not interrupt supply and the meter register can still be viewed. Once installed, the LimpetReaderTM takes an image of the utility meter register, at a predefined frequency, determined by the user.
The image is then automatically transferred to a secure in-house database, where the meter reading (date / time stamped image) is decoded into a numerical value. Data can be accessed via an on-line Portal, API integration or automated email. Supplied data comprises of an image of the register and a numerical value. The image removes the requirement for manual reads, and the associated costs & environmental impact of traveling to the site to obtain accurate readings.
Furthermore, our readers don’t require a pulsed meter output, so can obtain data from metering assets that traditionally can only be monitored manually.
Other benefits of the LimpetReaderTM include usage alerts that inform the customer when a spike occurs in their utility usage. This can be particularly useful if the spike occurs because there is something wrong with the user’s system, such as an undetected flow or leak. The damage and expense that can occur due to these instances can be significant. Early detection can save a company or an individual a substantial sum of money, it can minimise any potential disruption and/or damage and reduce waste.
