InstaGroup – Cradle and Batten Flooring with Underfloor Heating
Cradle and batten flooring is a dry alternative to a traditional screed.
It is assembled on site using recycled components. The components which make up the sub-floor come in different sizes enabling a wide range of different floor build-ups to be achieved. By adding or removing packers the floor can easily be levelled allowing a level surface to be created from an un level slab.
A dry sub floor system alternative to a cement screed made from recycled materials constructed in half the time.
The underfloor heating is integrated into flooring with brackets suspended from the battens. These battens hold the routed out insulation holding the UFH pipework ensuring that it is in contact with the overlay board giving maximum thermal performance. With lower temperature water systems becoming prevalent in most new build projects, UFH is commonly used to achieve performance where traditional radiators won’t.
When combined with UFH this can be laid at a rate of 100m2 per day and it is immediately ready for the next trade to start. Eliminating the cement in this package delivers substantial carbon savings contributing to the overall reduction in embodied carbon in the project.
Performance is achieved with Ambion’s unique control system, which uses dynamic pulsing to dramatically reduce energy usage and maintain a room’s temperature within 0.1oC of its target, 24 hours a day. Building materials absorb and store the infrared emitted from the low-carbon heat panels, and release this heat when the system is pulsed off to keep the room at its desired temperature. With data collected every hour, energy usage and spending can be easily monitored at all times.
