The Wates Group has announced that David Barclay is stepping down from its Group Board after seven years as a Non-Executive Director at the family-owned construction, property services and development company.
David Barclay was appointed Non-Executive Director of Wates Group in December 2012 and served as the Groups Senior Independent Director, and as Chairman of the Remuneration Committee and a member of the Audit and Nomination Committees.
The position of senior independent director will now be occupied by Jeremy Newsum, who joined the Wates board in September 2018.
Wates Group Chairman, Sir James Wates CBE, said:
I would like to thank David for the enormous contribution he has made to the effective governance of the Group. His huge wealth of experience gained over a stellar career spanning public service, retail and investment banking, combined with an impressive portfolio of non-executive roles, have been invaluable to our continued evolution and success. On behalf of the Group Board and family shareholders, I wish him all the best for his future endeavours.
