Wates Living Space has been appointed by Peabody Housing Association to deliver responsive repairs and specialist works for over 13,000 homes, becoming the second London-based appointment for the business in just two months.
Set to run for three years with an option to extend by a year, the new contract with Peabody will see Wates Living Space deliver works under two separate Lots with a combined annual value of £5.1m.
The appointment is the second for Wates Living Space in London following the recently launched 20-year partnership with Clarion Housing Group for planned maintenance for 19,000 homes across the city, one of the largest planned maintenance programmes to be delivered by Wates.
Valued at approximately £2.8m per year, Lot 1 of the new contract with Peabody will include 6,665 homes across Waltham Forest, Haringey, Enfield, Barnet, Harrow, Brent, Ealing, Hounslow, Richmond Upon Thames and Hillingdon.
Lot 2, which has an estimated value of £2.3m per year, will include 6,837 homes across Tower Hamlets, Newham, Redbridge, Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Essex. Both lots will include responsive repairs and specialist works as well as an out-of-hours emergency service.
David Morgan, Managing Director of Wates Property Services, commented:
Through our previous work with Peabody and our shared values for supporting the local community, we have developed a solid understanding of our clients aspirations to deliver a high quality service that helps to transform communities. Partnership working is fundamental to this and our team is currently focussed on developing innovative systems and processes that create efficiencies and improve the customer journey.
Ashling Fox, Chief Operating Officer at Peabody said:
This appointment is part of our mixed approach to providing quality services across London and the south-east. We are pleased to expand Wates areas of operations into two of Peabodys core regions from October. We are both committed to using innovation to drive a modern service to customers with a focus on improving communication, speed and quality. Our experienced property managers will work closely with the Wates team, and well be continuing our collaboration to help young people into work and training through our community foundations.
The new contract with Peabody will see Wates build on its current relationship with the housing association, which to-date has included a range of repairs across its portfolio. The Wates Family Enterprise Trust has also supported the Peabody Foundations Transitions programme through its charitable grant scheme, Wates Giving. Transitions is designed to help young disadvantaged people by providing work ready courses as well as work experience opportunities.
