Wates Living Space has been recognised for its commitment to being a responsible business at the LHC Awards, scooping the Delivering Excellent Sustainability and Social Responsibility Award, at a ceremony in London. The award was presented to Wates Mick Worrell, Richard Mardle and Dave Callaghan, by Sally Gunnel OBE.
The judges recognised Wates Living Spaces Stevenage team for the outstanding levels of community engagement delivered as part of our two-year partnership with Stevenage Council to deliver planned maintenance works at 3,000 properties across the borough.
The teams commitment to sustainability and social responsibility is evidenced by exceeding its targets towards employing local labour, employing 60% of its workforce locally and five apprentices, providing 10 work experience placements, hosting two Building Futures programmes, holding five Macmillan coffee mornings for residents, and completing one community project each year.
Wates Living Space currently delivers maintenance programmes through the LHC Energy Efficiency and Refurbishment Framework and the LHC Kitchens and Bathrooms Framework.
David Morgan, Managing Director, Wates Living Space, said:
Congratulations to the Wates Living Space team in Stevenage on receiving this well-deserved Award. This is a fantastic achievement and one that the team should be proud of, having worked tirelessly to engage with the community at every stage of the works and building trust with some of the most hard to reach residents on this contract.
