Andrew, who joined the company in January 2014, will be taking up the position as Chief Executive of Carillion plc on 2 April 2018.

David Allen, Chief Financial Officer, will become Acting Chief Executive pending the appointment of a permanent successor.

James Wates CBE, commented:

“When Andrew leaves, he will do so with the company in a strong position and well on its way to achieving its strategic goal of becoming a sustainably profitable £2 billion turnover company. Its been a pleasure to work with Andrew over these past four years, and I have thanked him for his outstanding leadership in growing the business, building a strong management team, and ingraining our core values throughout the organisation.

On behalf of the shareholders and the Board, I wish him the best for the future. The Board is grateful to David Allen for agreeing to take over as Acting Chief Executive until a permanent successor is appointed.”

Andrew Davies commented:

“It has been a privilege and a pleasure to work for the Wates Group, and I am proud of what we as a company have accomplished over these past four years. I have the greatest respect for the organisation, its heritage, and its people, who have continually impressed me with their commitment, integrity, professionalism and performance.

In particular I would like to thank James Wates and the Wates Family for their guidance and support during my tenure as CEO. I look forward to working with the Board and the management team to ensure there is a smooth and orderly transition.”

The Board of the Wates Group has initiated the process to identify a new Chief Executive, and further information will be announced in due course.
