Through the new £1.6m contract, we will deliver statutory mechanical and electrical compliance and preventative maintenance services as well as a range of reactive and project works for 61 fire stations and 93 police locations.

Spanning four years, with an optional four-year extension, the contract and adds to our current portfolio of blue light projects across the UK, which includes a range of fire station fit-outs and refurbishments on behalf of Cheshire East Fire & Rescue Service.

As part of our continued drive to decarbonise the built environment, we will also work closely with Hampshire and Isle of Wight’s Fire & Rescue Service and Police & Crime Commissioner to identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiency across its sites.

Our breadth of experience across the UK, in both the public and private sectors, gives us an excellent foundation to meet the needs of Hampshire and Isle of Wight’s Fire & Rescue Service and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary. Our commitment is to bring true value for money while ensuring these vital services have the necessary critical resilience to do their jobs for the local community.”

Antony Collett

Managing Director of Wates’ Facilities Management business

When I became Police and Crime Commissioner for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight in May 2021, I inherited a police estate that was not up to the standards expected of a modern policing service.

Over the years, we have embarked on a journey of transformation, with the goal of creating a police estate that is fit for purpose, responsive to the needs of our officers and staff, and aligned with my commitment to increase police visibility to serve and protect in the heart of communities.

I’m delighted Wates will now help us deliver a first class police estate and help us continue on our journey to upgrade existing facilities and develop new ones that meet the evolving needs of modern emergency services buildings.”

Donna Jones

Police and Crime Commissioner

We are delighted to be working with Wates as our new hard facilities service partner.

This new partnership will ensure that we continue to provide and maintain modern and inclusive facilities for our crews and their communities to use and enjoy.”
